Dolores Hoos's blog ::You Lift Me Up - Teen - Bruce/Darcy - Part Four
The first thing I think of when I think of Indiana is my aunt and uncle who used to live there with a garage filled with guns, then John Cougar Mellencamp, and lastly the Indiana Pacers basketball team. I was curious about what other famous people and celebrities got their start on life in Indiana and subsequently made this list of notables. By no means are these all of the famous people or celebrities born in the state, but I can only type so many, and cannot see into the future who may or may not become famous. John Mellencamp: When I think of the state of Indiana one of the very first things I think of is: John Cougar Mellencamp. This rock singer has put his home state up front and center during his career. He was born in Seymour, Indiana. David Letterman: Second only to Jay Leno to some, first in the minds of others, irrelevant to the Conan and Fallon crowd, but the lead in for Ferguson lovers: David Letterman is a television icon as The Late Show host on CBS. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. I personally find him to be a little grumpy though entertaining when he speaks his mind on a subject, though he rudely seems to ignore most of his guests when they are trying to tell their stories. The Jacksons: Janet Jackson, La Toya Jackson, Michael Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, these are the only Jackson siblings I can name off the top of my head, but there were more! The Jacksons were born in Gary, Indiana. They are music royalty.
